DMS Options & Accessories

In order to cover the wide range of displays to be measured, all Display Measuring Systems can be configured with options and accessories to meet the requirements of a large number of specific tasks.

Detectors (light measuring devices, LMDs)

A range of fast photometric detectors, all based on photomultiplier-tubes, is available with different sensitivities and frequency ranges.

For high-precision colorimetric analysis the CCDSpect spectroradiometer is recommended.

The synergy of speed and accuracy in viewing cone scanning has been achieved with the Multi-Channel Spectrometer approach used in the PolyGonioscopic instruments DMS 1100 and 1200.

Illumination

For transmissive displays (e.g. LCDs) some DMS models (DMS 301, 505, 803, 903) feature integrated diffuse illumination devices.

For evaluation of the contrast of reflective displays (LCD, ePaper, printed paper, etc.) the diffusing hemisphere (DHS) provides the ideal illumination scheme; specular surface reflections can be included or excluded, depending on the task.

The VADIS (Variable Aperture Diffuse Source) provides conical illumination with subtended angles between 1° and 15°. This device can be used for scattering evaluation (VASA approach), for simulation of ambient illumination and for BRDF measurement.

The PID (Parallel Illumination Device) delivers a collimated beam of white light with adjustable diameter and can be used for BRDF measurements.

NEW: Extremely Bright Point-Source

This device is available now for BRDF measurements with high signal to noise ratio and reduced efforts for adjustment of illumination, sample and receiver.

DUT Electrical Driving

An arbitrary signal generator (ASG) allows for user defined voltage-time functions for direct driving with e.g. passive matrix multiplexing waveforms, and its multichannel versions allow for driving of active matrix structures (gate signals, data voltage, etc.). The photometric data-acquisition is synchronized with the ASG output signal timing.

A module driving interface (MDI) is available for programming of display controllers via serial, paralle and I2C interfaces.

The driving of video monitors is supported by the Video Driving Unit (VDU), a proprietary pattern generator that is integrated in the DMS Control Software. The VDU supports analog and digital RGB signals via various interfaces (DVI, LVDS, etc..

The DCI (Device Control Interface) is available for integration of a variety of third-party test pattern generators via RS232, GPIB or TCP/IP.

Temperature Control of DUT

For precise control of the temperature of the object of measurement (especially LCDs), air-forced temperature control devices have been made available for scanning of the viewing cone from - 40°C to +85°C.
